Editorial Standards for On Glidepath Media

1. Purpose and Scope

On Glidepath Media is the media subsidiary of Carmichael & Russ Capital (“C&R Capital”). It publishes:

  • The Operator Brief – a daily briefing for operators, freelancers, and small business owners.

  • The Black Executive – a business publication documenting Black and African news, leadership, and markets across the diaspora.

  • Land the Plane – a leadership and career development platform for emerging and established leaders.

These editorial standards apply to all content published by On Glidepath Media, including articles, newsletters, videos, podcasts, social posts, and community communications.

Our goal is to ensure that every piece of content we publish is accurate, fair, transparent, and independent in spirit, even while being funded and owned by C&R Capital.

2. Ownership and Independence

On Glidepath Media is wholly owned by Carmichael & Russ Capital, an independent investment and advisory firm focused on business acquisitions, private credit, and real estate development.

  • Ownership Disclosure: We disclose this relationship clearly in our site footers, About pages, and newsletters.

  • Editorial Independence: Editorial decisions are made by On Glidepath editors and contributors. C&R Capital’s business interests do not dictate which stories we cover or how we cover them.

  • Non-Promotional Editorial: On Glidepath Media content is not used to promote C&R Capital’s products, services, funds, or specific transactions. When we do discuss C&R Capital or its portfolio, we label this clearly and provide appropriate disclosure.

3. Core Editorial Principles

We align with widely recognized journalism ethics for business and financial reporting: accuracy, fairness, balance, attribution, and clear separation of editorial and commercial content.

Accuracy

  • All factual claims must be supported by credible sources (regulatory filings, reputable news organizations, primary research, company reports, academic work, or government data).

  • We strive to provide sufficient context so that information is not misleading, even if factually correct.

  • We avoid sensationalism, clickbait, and unsupported speculation.

Attribution and Sourcing

  • We credit and link to original sources whenever possible.

  • We distinguish clearly between original reporting, synthesis/curation, and commentary.

  • Anonymous or off-the-record sourcing (when used) must be approved by an editor and used only when necessary to protect the source or obtain information in the public interest.

Fairness and Balance

  • We seek to represent relevant perspectives when covering companies, sectors, or contested issues.

  • Analysis and opinion pieces must still be grounded in facts and data, not personal attacks or unsubstantiated claims.

Separation of Editorial and Commercial Interests

  • Editorial content is not for sale. We do not accept payment in exchange for favorable coverage.

  • If we ever publish sponsored content in the future, it will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored” or “Paid Partnership” and visually distinguished from editorial content.

4. Conflicts of Interest and Disclosures

Because On Glidepath Media is owned by an investment firm, potential conflicts of interest are taken seriously.

We commit to:

  • Clear Disclosure of Relationships

    • When we cover companies that are portfolio companies, clients, or partners of C&R Capital, we will disclose that relationship within the piece.

    • When we discuss market segments where C&R Capital is active (e.g., lower middle-market acquisitions, private credit, specific verticals), we will note that C&R operates in those areas.

  • Personal Financial Interests

    • Authors and editors must disclose material personal financial interests that relate directly to the subjects they cover.

    • Where such interests exist, we may add a disclosure to the piece or assign the coverage to another contributor.

  • No Front-Running or Trading on Non-Public Information

    • We do not use non-public information obtained through C&R Capital’s activities as the basis for editorial content.

    • We do not encourage trading or investment in specific securities through our editorial work.

On Glidepath Media is not an investment adviser and does not provide personalized investment advice. Nothing we publish should be interpreted as a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to pursue any specific investment strategy.

5. Content Types and Labeling

To maintain transparency with readers, we clearly label content by type:

  • News / Briefings (e.g., “The Daily Pulse”, “The Week Ahead”, The Operator Brief): Timely reporting, synthesis, or curation of events, data, and developments.

  • Analysis: Deeper exploration of implications, trends, or strategic “so what?” commentary, grounded in data and cited sources.

  • Profiles / Biographies (e.g., “Our Pioneers”, “Our Contemporaries”): Documenting the lives, work, and impact of individuals and organizations, especially within Black and African business communities.

  • Opinion / Essays: Clearly marked as opinion, reflecting the author’s interpretation or perspective, still grounded in facts.

  • Interviews / Conversations (e.g., Land the Plane episodes): Dialogues with operators, executives, and leaders, edited for clarity without altering meaning.

  • Educational / How-To Content: Leadership guidance, frameworks, and career development content for emerging leaders and operators.

Each format is subject to the same standards of accuracy, fairness, and disclosure.

6. Corrections and Accountability

We will make mistakes. When we do, we correct them promptly and transparently.

  • Corrections

    • If content contains a material error of fact, we will update the article or episode notes with a clear correction notice indicating what has changed and why.

    • For newsletters, we may send a follow-up correction or note in a subsequent issue, depending on the severity.

  • Clarifications

    • When content is technically accurate but potentially misleading due to lack of context, we may add a clarification note.

  • Reader Feedback

    • Readers can contact us at: editorial@carmichaelrusscap.com with concerns, correction requests, or ethical issues.

    • Legitimate concerns are reviewed by an editor and, when appropriate, escalated to leadership.

7. Use of AI and Automation

We may use AI tools for research assistance, drafting, or production support. However:

  • All published content is reviewed and approved by a human editor.

  • AI-generated suggestions are treated as raw input, not final copy.

  • We do not knowingly publish AI-generated content that has not been fact-checked and edited for accuracy, clarity, and tone.

Where AI is significantly involved in creating specific content (e.g., synthetic voices or generated visuals), we will disclose that use when it is material to how the audience interprets the work.

8. Community, Comments, and Participation

For platforms that allow reader comments or community participation (including Land the Plane Q&A):

  • We expect contributions to remain respectful and constructive.

  • We reserve the right to moderate, hide, or remove comments that are abusive, hateful, deceptive, or spam.

  • We do not allow doxxing, harassment, or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or other protected characteristics.

9. Relationship to Carmichael & Russ Capital Brand

These editorial standards are part of C&R Capital’s broader commitment to integrity, transparency, and disciplined decision-making in investing and operations.

  • On Glidepath Media is a long-term credibility and knowledge platform, not a short-term marketing channel.

  • The content we publish should stand on its own merit for operators, executives, and emerging leaders—even if they never become clients, investors, or counterparties of Carmichael & Russ Capital.

10. Updates to These Standards

We will review these editorial standards periodically as media, technology, and regulatory expectations evolve.

Material changes will be dated and summarized at the top of this page. Continued use of our sites and publications implies acceptance of the current version of these standards.
